Cooperating University (CU) is a university or a junior college (regardless of private, national, public university) in Japan, which agrees with the purpose and idea of the “UNU Financial Assistance Programme for Students from Developing Countries Studying in Japan” and has signed the “Cooperating University (CU) Agreement” to provide reimbursable funds to the self-financed students enrolled at the university. After signing the “CU Agreement”, each CU plays an important role in many aspects of the programme such as recruitment and screening of students and dealing with and monitoring the reimbursements from students etc.
Since the beginning of UNU Financial Assistance Programme (FAP) in March 2003, 705 Students have become the FAP Recipient Students, and currently 32 Universities and Colleges are Cooperating to this programme as described in the list below (as of August 2008).
