Good news for UNU-FAP recipient-students!
UNU-FAP will hold the FAP Essay Contest for 2008. If you have never made an entry to the essay contest or got an award from it yet, please make a try. We all are looking forward to receiving your entries.

UNU Financial Assistance Programme for Students from Developing Countries Studying in Japan (FAP) is holding “Essay Contest” in the aim of providing the recipient students an opportunity to think and present their thoughts on the global and development issues that our world is facing and to become more familiar with the activities of the UN and UNU. You are very welcome to express what you have learnt or thought through your experiences of living and studying in Japan.
1. Eligibility
- All the students who received funds from “The UNU Financial Assistance Programme for students from developing Countries and have been reimbursing the funds according to the schedule, without any delay.
- The students in their “grace period” are also eligible to apply.
- Students, who meet the above two conditions, can re-enter the contest until you receive an award, during their agreement period with UNU, including the grace period.
2. Prizes
- <Excellent Prize> 4 winners (certificate and award of 50,000 yen)
- <Honorary Mention> 10 winners (certificate and award of 30,000 yen)
- The winning essays of Excellent Prize will be published on the UNU website.
3. Essay Themes
- “The United Nations and myself” OR “Global Society and myself”
- You are not asked to write an academic writing in this essay contest. PLease write freely about what you have thought or felt from your past experiences or through your life and study in Japan.
4. Procedures
- The Essay should be written on A4 size papers either in English or Japanese
(English: Up to 1500 words / Japanese: Up to 3000 characters)
- Entry should be submitted with a separate sheet indicating
- 1)Applicant’s Name
- 2)Name of University
- 3)Name of Faculty
- 4)Year of Study
- 5)Nationality
- 6)Current address
- 7)E-mail address
- 8)Title of Essay
- The Essay should not have been published before submission and will not be returned once submitted.

5. Entry Period
- 1st October – 31st December 2008 (post marked on 31st December 2008 is acceptable)
