The UNU Financial Assistance Programme for Students from Developing Countries Studying in Japan (hereinafter the “Programme”) offers an award to high-achieving students who have been dutifully reimbursing the funds without delay.
The students need to have completed the reimbursement dutifully during the period considered for the selection, for the amount more than two-third (2/3) of the fund provision, or to be enrolled in the final year at the time of the selection. One award for every one student
Amount equivalent to 30% of the fund reimbursed by each student during the period considered for the selection will be given to the selected students. The amount of the fund reimbursed by each student shall be based on the initially planed reimbursement schedule and early reimbursement shall not be counted.
The cooperating university selects from eligible students the student who shows an excellent academic performance or whose academic advancement is outstanding. The academic performance should be assessed by objective criteria such as Grade Point Average. Each cooperating university may select 1 student in principle. The universities with more than 11 qualified students, up to 2 students can be selected, thus the universities with more than 21 qualified, up to 3 students can be selected (respectively 1 student can be added per 10 qualified students.). The university with only 1qualified student will decide whether or not to select the student based on the suitability of the student for the award.

Notification of the selection result from cooperating university to UNU:
By Monday, 17 December 2007
Presentation of privilege from UNU to cooperating university:
in early February, 2008
Successful students will be notified by their respective cooperating universities after authorization by UNU. The award will be presented to the students by their respective universities, or if requested, by UNU.
