Exemption from UNU Global Seminar Participation Fee
Here is a new advantage for FAP recipient students.
Students who apply and are successfully selected as participants in the United Nations University
Global Seminar Series may be granted a waiver of the participation fee. The fee covers accommodation, meals and seminar documentation, but does not include travel expenses. This advantage will apply only to FAP recipient students who have been dutifully reimbursing FAP funds on schedule (for details of eligibility, please see below).

1. Objectives and History of UNU Global Seminar
The UNU Global Seminars are held annually in Japan and abroad in an effort to
increase awareness and enhance understanding of contemporary global issues
and the role of the United Nations. This aim is achieved through close interaction
of students and young professionals with scholars and experts working in the UNU's
global networks.
The Global Seminars began in Japan in the Kanto area in 1985 with the first Shonan
Session, and in the Kansai area in 1995 with the Kobe Session. In Japan, additional
UNU Global Seminars are held in Tohoku, Shimane, Hokkaido, Kobe/Awaji, Kanazawa,
and Okinawa. UNU Global Seminar participants are sought by individual application
throughout Japan. The expansion of the UNU Global Seminars abroad began with
the Seoul (South Korea) Session in 2003. The Seoul Session is open to students
living in Korea, Japan, China and Mongolia. The inaugural Hawaii Session was held
in March, 2004. The Hawaii Session addresses students residing in the Pacific Area.
