Sun Xuejie
Kanazawa Seiryo University
Global Society and Myself friendship between China and Japan from my experience
< Comment from Selection Committee >
This lively essay discusses the friendship between China and Japan through the prism of Ms. Xuejie's own experiences as a foreign student studying in Japan. This essay's main argument is that, before talking about the friendship of two countries, we should try to learn and understand people and cultural backgrounds of each other. Many concrete examples, which were gained from Ms. Xuejie's daily lives in Japan, strengthen the argument. However, it would be more persuasive, if the core point were discussed in depth.

Zhang Shunji
Tsuda College
Global Society and Myself Media Communication between China and Japan
< Comment from Selection Committee >
Although this essay could be more attractive, if Ms. Shunji's personal experiences were included in the argument, the entire essay is well organized and unique. Featuring Japanese media culture such as Oshin* and Momoe Yamaguchi,*, the essay stresses the critical role of media for improving amity between two countries. Also, it is highly regarded that the efforts of both China and Japan are fairly introduced in the essay.

*Oshin: TV drame aired in Japan from 1983 to 1984. It has been broadcasted in 63 countries all over the world and achieved high audience ratings.
**Momoe Yamaguchi: Japanese 70s national icon.
